Srushti started to get ready for her UPSC examination in her 3rd year as an engineering student. She questioned whether engineering was an appropriate career path for her. In the end, she realized that civil service was what she loved and focused on it. Parents insisted that she study for civils and make a career serving the public. Her motivation never waned as she remained focused in her pursuit to become an IAS. What is required to become an IAS officer is much more. As she studied her engineering subject, she also used to prepare for different areas of the UPSC. Everyday, she would set aside time to prepare for the exam. In less than an entire month, she prepared for her exam in engineering and also stayed away from social media. She believes that focus and concentration are the key for a successful test to become a government official. She put in great effort to ensure she passed the test in her first attempt. In order to stay up-to-date on current affairs, she used to regularly read newspapers. Online, she collected a variety of study material as well as watched Rajya Sabha TV.
